Your First 30 Days After an Eligibility Inquiry: A Readiness Plan

After the eligibility inquiry

Use the first 30 days to turn a submitted inquiry into an organized next-step record.

The 30-day window in this guide is an applicant planning framework, not a promise that accreditation or even every intake step will be completed within 30 days. Use it to preserve scope, organize evidence, assign ownership and respond promptly when CHSPS issues the written eligibility determination.

Current eligibility-stage timing, stage ownership and pause conditions are controlled on Review Stages and How to Apply. This guide focuses on what the applicant team can prepare in parallel.

A four-block roadmap for the first month.

These blocks organize applicant work; they are not CHSPS service deadlines. If the written determination arrives earlier, move to the applicable outcome path immediately.

01
Days 0–3

Lock the inquiry record

Preserve exactly what was submitted, name one internal coordinator and create the working file for scope, contacts and controlled documents.

02
Days 4–10

Build the evidence map

Inventory existing policies, operating records and ownership against the applicable standard. Keep sensitive evidence out of the public inquiry channel.

03
Days 11–20

Align decisions and resources

Confirm the executive sponsor, signer, budget owner, subject-matter leads and questions that could change the proposed scope.

04
Days 21–30 or sooner

Act on the written determination

When the determination arrives, follow the applicable path immediately. Do not wait for day 30 if the next action is already clear.

The determination tells you which next action is appropriate.

CHSPS eligibility screening ends in one of three written determinations. Eligibility itself is not accreditation, certification or public recognition.

Eligible

Proceed after scope confirmation

The organization may move toward formal application after the pathway and proposed scope are confirmed. The next work is agreement, intake and the controlled applicant workspace.

Additional information required

Answer the specified question

A Potentially Eligible — Additional Information Required determination means CHSPS needs more information before eligibility can be confirmed. Respond to the named issue rather than rebuilding the entire file.

Not Eligible

Close the stated thresholds first

The written determination identifies the thresholds not yet met. Use those items as the readiness plan before deciding when to return to eligibility review.

Controlled source: Eligibility Requirements defines the current thresholds and written outcome categories.

Prepare for the formal applicant workflow without treating eligibility as an award.

Confirm the review object and scope

  • Verify the pathway and exact program, system, offering or organizational scope.
  • Identify any sites, business units, add-ons or coordinated portfolio elements that matter.
  • Resolve internal questions that could materially change scope before evidence mapping expands.

Prepare the administrative handoff

  • Name the authorized signer and primary applicant coordinator.
  • Confirm the budget owner and review the current fee schedule.
  • Prepare account permissions and the internal team that will own self-study and evidence uploads.

The current sequence is maintained on How to Apply. Formal evidence submission begins only after the applicable eligibility, scope and agreement steps are satisfied.

Organize evidence early, but use the correct channel.

Build the internal evidence index

List the current policy, record, report, minutes, form or sample that could support each applicable requirement. Record owner, version/effective date and where the controlled copy lives. This is preparation work; it does not mean the evidence has been accepted or reviewed.

Do not send sensitive evidence through the public inquiry.

Candidate or learner records, protected health information, secure examination content, answer keys, confidential client data and similar controlled material belong only in the appropriate secure workflow when requested. Follow Evidence & Documentation Requirements for current handling rules.

By the end of the planning window, the internal record should be easier to hand off and easier to review.

The goal is not to force the CHSPS process into 30 calendar days. The goal is to remove applicant-controlled ambiguity so the next formal step can start cleanly when appropriate.

Use the month well

Reduce applicant-controlled delay before the next formal handoff.

The strongest first-month result is a clear scope record, named owners, an organized evidence index and a prompt response to the written eligibility determination.
