Public-status rules

What an official CHSPS status claim requires

Program availability is not accreditation.

An active CHSPS pathway or defined offering means the route is current under a published standard. It does not mean a particular organization has been accredited.

Scope is literal.

A final accreditation decision applies only to the organization, program, system, version or defined scope shown in the current verification record.

People are not CHSPS-accredited.

CHSPS accredits defined programs and systems. Individual certifications, certificates and credentials are issued by the responsible program or provider.

Governance facts

Authority is separated by function.

The public governance structure separates corporate oversight, standards governance, technical review, final accreditation decisions and appeals.

Corporate oversight

Board of Commissioners

Provides fiduciary and organizational oversight and does not serve as the case-level accreditation decision body.

Standards governance

Standards Council

Maintains controlled requirements through the standards-development and revision process.

Technical review

Reviewers & specialists

Evaluate evidence under qualification, conflict, confidentiality and authorization controls.

Final accreditation

Accreditation Decision Committee

Five qualified voting members. Quorum is four conflict-free voting members.

Due process

Appeals Panel

Uses case-specific independent panelists who had no role in the original review or decision.

Decision firewall. Standards writers define requirements. Reviewers evaluate evidence. Applicant-support personnel may explain process but do not decide the case. The Accreditation Decision Committee makes the accreditation decision, and appeals are separated from the original review and decision.
