Auditors & Validators
Accreditation is only as credible as the people who audit it. The CHSPS Authorized Auditor framework governs who reviews, how they stay calibrated, and the independence lines they may never cross.

Calibration turns expertise into consistent review.
Subject-matter expertise matters, but consistency matters too. CHSPS authorizes reviewers only after qualification review, training and calibration, then monitors performance and conflicts throughout the authorization cycle.
Roles
- Accreditation Reviewer — evidence evaluation against the Core and program standards
- Specialty Accreditation Reviewer — clause-based evidence evaluation against CORE-100 and the applicable specialty accreditation standard; reviewers may develop findings but do not make the final accreditation decision
- Lead Auditor — audit planning, team coordination, findings quality
- Performance Data Validator — VPD lineage, sampling and reperformance work
- Technical Specialist — psychometrics, cybersecurity, pharmacy, simulation and similar deep expertise, engaged per file
Authorization lifecycle
Application → qualification review → required CHSPS training → knowledge assessment → observed/simulated audit → supervised audits → authorization → annual calibration, performance review and continuing education → reauthorization — with suspension or termination where required. CHSPS measures its own reviewer consistency through standardized cases, blinded duplicate reviews and inter-rater comparison.
The independence rule
Auditors may
- Explain requirements
- Identify the evidence reviewed
- Issue findings
- Explain the factual basis of findings
Auditors may not
- Design the applicant’s solution
- Rewrite policies or evidence
- Promise accreditation
- Coach measure manipulation
- Be paid on outcome

How CHSPS keeps technical review calibrated
These operating targets define the reviewer-performance profile used for authorization, calibration and oversight.
Annual calibration participation
Calibration agreement on finding severity
Assigned reviews completed on schedule
Quality-check acceptance of written findings
Material confidentiality incidents
Reviewer authorization & transparency. Only reviewers who meet CHSPS qualification, training, calibration, confidentiality and conflict requirements may be assigned. Applicants receive review-team notice and conflict-challenge rights under CHSPS-AUD-400; reviewer assignments are case-specific rather than implied by a decorative public roster.
